After consecutive record-breaking years in fundraising, the Tulane University Athletics department announced an ambitious plan to secure the future for Green Wave student-athletes. On Monday, Athletics Director Rick Dickson announced the kick-off of the Tulane Athletics Fund (TAF) Nationwide Challenge. "As we complete our return to full strength, our goals have never been higher and our needs have never been greater," said Dickson." The TAF Nationwide Challenge will help ensure that the next generation of Tulane student-athletes can further our tradition of excellence."
The TAF Nationwide Challenge is a fundraising effort to support the final phase of reinstatement of Tulane Athletics' sports programs, and sustain the department's mission of excellence. This groundbreaking new initiative allows TAF members to double their impact towards the fund's annual goals. The Nationwide Challenge is made possible through the leadership of one outstanding Tulanian, who has committed a six-figure gift to TAF in the form of a challenge to the Tulane community across the country: increase TAF membership by a minimum $100,000 or more in new or enhanced donations by May 30, 2009 and Tulane Athletics will receive an additional $100,000 or more from this donor.
"Tulane Athletics represents excellence," said Dickson. "Our student-athletes are leaders among their peers in the classroom, in the community, and in athletics competition and are consistently recognized at the highest levels for their achievement in these areas. Yet these ambitions cannot be fulfilled without support from Tulanians throughout the country" he said. "The entire Tulane Athletics family is grateful for the vision and generosity of this loyal supporter," Dickson added.
